Take a socially distanced, masks-on, stroll through Yachats, and enjoy musical entertainment provided by a variety of Lincoln County performers. There will be one or two acts at four outdoor venues, including The Drift Inn gallery under the Rainspout sign; the old Yachats Fire Station; The Pavilion behind the Yachats Commons; and at the point at Yachats State Park.
The piper at the point kicks off the stroll at 11:15 am.
Each music act is scheduled for a 45-minute set, the first beginning at 11:30 a.m. and the second at 12:30 p.m., with a 15-minute break between artists.
Other musicians scheduled to perform include the following:
- Darroll Morehouse is our Piper at the Point. The Piper will play shorter sets at his discretion. Darroll is a resident of Newport. He took up bagpiping after he retired from the San Jose Fire Department and moved to Oregon. Darroll has played at the National Firefighters Memorial in Colorado Springs, and the Fleet Of Flowers in Depoe Bay. He is a member of the Northwest Firefighters Pipes and Drums.
- Dave Cowden – Guitar and Vocals. Dave Cowden is a singer-songwriter who is proficient in several instruments. You may have seen him performing around Yachats in the duo “Dave and Creight”. In 2008 Dave was inducted into the Kansas Music Hall of Fame. His band opened for The Mama’s and Papa’s and has played at an NFL halftime show.
- Ian Smith – Guitar and Vocals. Ian Smith is a guitarist/singer/songwriter who draws inspiration from diverse sources. From Blues to African, Americana, Rock, Folk, Jazz, Ian has been developing his own voice for 50 years.
- Son of the Beaches are Franz Paul Van Den Bogaard on guitar, mandolin, and vocals, joined by Aaron Gibson on bass. Experience the rhythmic guitar work and rich deep vocals of Paul Bogaard, backed by the tasty bass of Aaron Gibson.
- Weird Science Boyz is an 80’s power trio. Get ready for a high-energy, dance-oriented, and costumed show. There is never a dull moment as the band plays song after song, barely stopping to catch a breath. Weird Science Boyz are, Kevin Strever-Lead Vocals and Guitar, Ronnie Jay Pirrello-Lead Vocals and Bass, and Richard Robitaille-Drums.
Bulb give-away! Spreading flowers throughout the community!
No limited to bulbs. Please bring any plant bulbs you wish to share.
There will be a table outside the Drift Inn Gallery with Daffodil and other spring bulbs available to take. You are invited to bring extra bulbs from your home gardens to share with others as well. There is no charge for bulbs, and it is not necessary to bring bulbs to exchange. Don’t forget to bring a paper bag for your bulbs.
The Yachats Ladies Club will be selling face masks. They are introducing a new “singers mask” to their line of stylish locally made masks. They will have their table at the Commons Pavilion. Masks cost $5.00 or $10.00.
