November Updates on the Yachats Skatepark Expansion Project:
First, we are happy to announce that Polly Plumb received a $20,000 grant award from the Oregon Community Foundation this week to support the project. Additionally, in October and November, community members gifted more than $6,000 in individual donations to the project. To date, $105,225 has been raised for the project and less than $5,000 remains to meet our fundraising goal of $110,000. Thank you for your generosity and financial help in making this project a reality.
Second, the City of Yachats, Polly Plumb, and Dreamland Skateparks will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for the project on December 4th at 3:30 pm. Bobbi Price, our new City Manager who starts her new position on December 1st will welcome skateboarders and skateboard enthusiasts to join us for a short celebration and refreshments either at the skateboard site and/or in the pavilion if the weather doesn’t cooperate.
According to Danyel Scott, co-owner of Dreamland Skateparks, “The skatepark build is scheduled to start December 4th and will be completed by January 19th. Traffic signs and personnel will be on-site to help drivers navigate during the construction phase. La-De-Dah Lane should remain open during most of the construction.”
Community donations are welcomed and are being accepted through checks made out to Polly Plumb – Skatepark Project. Please mail checks to PO Box 128, Yachats, Oregon, 97498.
