Art Quilting is a fascinating and relatively new art form. The evolution of the quilt from bed cover to museum piece, and the quilter from homemaker to trained artist, was celebrated in the 1977 book, The Art Quilt, by Robert Shaw. As the quilters work place moved from kitchen to studio, the art quilt continues to reinvent itself. Quilters, with their signature techniques, search for innovative methods of construction while expanding the use of non-traditional materials and instilling personally meaningful subject matter.
Polly Plumb Productions is delighted to announce this special showing of Sacred Threads. This is an exhibition of quilts exploring themes of joy, inspiration, spirituality, grief, healing, peace, and shared humanity.
The Sacred Threads exhibit has been traveling the country since 2024. This biennial exhibition was established to provide a safe venue for quilters who see their work as a connection to the sacred and/or as an expression of their spiritual journey. Please enjoy it while it is on display in Yachats. Mark your calendars!
