Title: Medusa

Artist Statement: “Inspired by my photos from Newport’s Oregon Coast Aquarium, I chose a jellyfish for the topic of my banner. The beautiful free form moving through the water creates a lovely design in the space of the banner. In my research, I discovered jellyfish in various colors, many in oranges and pinks; so I chose oranges and yellow-oranges for my jellyfish, arranged on a blue/green background to catch the attention of the viewer. I also learned that jellyfish and sea jellies are the informal common names given to the medusa-phase of certain gelatinous members of the subphylum Medusozoa; therefore I am titling my banner Medusa.”
