Polly Plumb Productions is thrilled to present recording artist Craig Caffall, Friday August 7, for a 7 pm concert, at the Yachats Community Presbyterian Church.
Ever wonder about those great musicians backing up your favorite stars. Well, we have one coming to Yachats. He’s performed at Waldport’s Iron Kettle and New York’s Lincoln Center. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Craig Caffall has been involved with music since the age of 9, when he began drumming for a school band in Mexico.
In the 1980’s, Craig Caffall lived outside Philomath and headlined the legendary Iron Kettle in Waldport with the Curley Waffles Band, a trio, performing country, western and rock and roll.
Caffall’s career has paired him up with some notable artists including Bo Diddley, John Mayall, David Clayton Thomas, Ramblin Jack Elliot, Fred Shumate, Cyril & Charles Neville, Dan Hicks, Morgan Davie, Bonnie Raitt, Irv Weiner, Bob Wier, and Steve Earle, just to name a few.
Residing in the San Francisco Bay area, he has been playing lead guitar with legendary singer Maria Muldaur for the past 20 years, touring the United States, Canada, Mexico, England, Ireland, Czech Republic, Switzerland and Japan.
He delighted the Yachats Commons crowd at the 2016 Maria Muldaur concert. He is Maria’s lead guitarist Caffall also plays and tours with Shana Morrison (daughter of Van Morrison), his band CCB, and Banda Super Mercado. He is a highly sought after “special guest” in many bands. He is touring in support of his latest release “Serious Look”.
In January 2012 Caffall released his hit CD “That’s When You Got It Made”, featuring the Latin Rock song “Quemado”, picked by Billboard Magazine as one of the top 500 Latin Songs of 2012 He recorded his first Cd titled “Hold Me Up” in 1999. In 2013 Caffall’s band CCB released “Got It Covered” a selection of songs from the bands cover set list. “Songs that everybody knows but CCB makes them their own” says Caffall proudly. In 2018 he released a CD of original songs “Turns To The Blues”, his fourth album.
Caffall can be heard with Maria Muldaur on her “Christmas At The Oasis” CD where he plays on the title track. His fifth album was released in 2021 on GRA records, “Chasing The Moon To Reno” which includes two original Christmas songs “ that’ll put some jingle in your bells”.
This busy guy has also produced an album for folk singer Buffy Ford Stewart (wife of songwriter John Stewart from the Kingston Trio) which featured Davy Jones, Kris Kristoferson, Dan Hicks, Peter Tork, and Rosanne Cash.
